Strategic Partners

NALMCO partners with many industry organizations to
broaden the scope of credible information, certification and opportunities available to members.

Illuminating Engineering Society (IES)

NALMCO and the Illuminating Engineering Society (IES) are partners and joint developers of the American National Standard titled ANSI/IES/NALMCO RP-36, Recommended Practice: Lighting Maintenance.  Established in 1906, the IES is the recognized technical and educational authority on illumination. The strength of the IES is its diversified membership, including engineers, architects, designers, educators, students, contractors, distributors, utility personnel, manufacturers, and scientists in 64 countries, all contributing to the mission of the Society: to improve the lighted environment by bringing together those with lighting knowledge and by translating that knowledge into actions that benefit the public. The IES is a 501(c)(3) non-profit professional society dedicated to the exchange of ideas and information and a vehicle for its members’ professional development and recognition.

Integrated Lighting Campaign (ILC)

The Integrated Lighting Campaign (ILC) is a program designed to help facility owners and managers take advantage of savings opportunities and benefits of advanced lighting controls and of integrating lighting systems with other building or business systems in their facilities. The ILC serves as a resource for relevant research regarding new advanced lighting controls and integrated lighting systems and provides a platform to recognize exemplary projects shared by ILC participants and supporters.

Association of Energy Engineers (AEE)

NALMCO and the Association of Energy Engineers (AEE) have partnered to allow their respective lighting certifications – the Certified Lighting Management Consultant® (CLMC®) and the Certified Lighting Efficiency Professional (CLEP™) – to qualify for cross-over/reciprocal certification. NALMCO and the AEE have a long history of serving the needs of the lighting industry. These certification programs cover core lighting concepts and technologies that place lighting professionals at the forefront of the industry.  Once you earn one of these designations (either the CLMC from NALMCO or the CLEP from AEE), you may apply for the other organization’s certification credential without taking another exam. Complete the Application for CLMC or CLEP Reciprocal Certification and submit with your CLEP certificate or CLMC letter and application fee. Once your certification has been verified, the reciprocal certification will be conferred upon you. Obtaining both industry recognitions is an excellent opportunity to distinguish yourself in the highly-competitive lighting field.

National Lighting Bureau (NLB)

The National Lighting Bureau (NLB) exists to create demand for High-Benefit Lighting®— efficient lighting designed to optimize human performance, health, safety, and commerce — by educating those who make and influence decisions about lighting. The NLB offers educational videos from the Bureau’s Annual Lighting Forum, lighting research from accredited University and research centers, and features members’ articles about the future of High Benefit Lighting.

Lighting Controls Association (LCA)

Since 2016, Lighting Controls Association (LCA) and NALMCO have partnered to promote controls education and NALMCO's Certified Lighting Controls Professional (CLCP) certification. The LCA’s free, 24/7 online education program, Education Express, offers more than 50 hours of learning on a broad range of topics from design to codes to commissioning to rebates to technology and application. Education credit through Education Express provides prerequisite and study materials for NALMCO’s CLCP certification. The Lighting Controls Association (LCA), a council of the National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA), is dedicated to educating the professional building design, construction, and management communities about lighting control technology, application, and benefits. LCA members include noted leaders in the manufacture of advanced controls and dimming ballasts. LCA is headquartered at the NEMA headquarters in Rosslyn, VA and is sponsored by the National Lighting Bureau

International Ultraviolet Association (IUVA)

In April 2023, NALMCO and the International Ultraviolet Association (IUVA) entered into a joint memorandum of understanding which reflects their commitment to working together to advance and promote the mutual interests of their respective members. Founded in 1999, IUVA is focused on advancing the science, engineering, and application of ultraviolet technologies with the purpose of enhancing the quality of human life and protecting the environment. The IUVA mission is to: To make the use of Ultraviolet Technology a leading technology for public health and environmental applications and to position IUVA as the leading authority on the use of Ultraviolet Technology through advocacy to the education, industry, research and public policy sectors worldwide.
